EXERCISE OF THE YOUNGEST PILOTS OF THE 204TH AIR BRIGADE

At school-tactical training area Centa, today's youngest pilots of the 252nd school-trainer aircraft squadron carried out bombing exercise in flypast.

It is the last segment of the school-combat training, followed by activities at the tactical training facility, which will be partly carried out at the same place, but in other locations as well.

In four flights pilots of three Super Galeb G4 aircrafts successfully targeted ground targets demonstrating a high level of combat training during which they performed shooting, bombing and rocket attacks at an angle, which, with today's practice, is the main purpose of this aircraft, and is consistent with the results, therefore the results will be evaluated for this part of the training process.

Head of operations at today’s exercise major Boban Vuckovic said he was pleased with the results and said that during the upcoming activities in the tactical part he expected the that the practice of training would be reaffirmed.

WELCOME FOR THE NEW LIEUTENANTS OF 204TH AVIATION BRIGADE

On the monument to the defenders of Belgrade on Zemun quay, wreaths were laid by the members of 204th members Aviation Brigade and representatives of the retired military pilots and paratroopers.

During this solemn act commander 204th Aviation Brigade, Brigadier General Predrag Bandic welcomed new second lieutenants who have today assumed their posts in the brigade.

General Bandic said on this occasion that this is the year when we mark 100 years of Serbian military aviation, and this year is dedicated to fostering the traditions and memories of those who gave their lives, patriotism, heroism, and wore the uniform with honor.

Professional career of new lieutenants will mark the beginning of the second century the Serbian military aviation. They are our new beginning. We tried to make history worthy of them, to enable them to start an honorable and worthy start of future promotion and career and to create a basis to go further, as the commander of the 204th aviation brigade stated, wishing them to wear the uniform with honor and accomplish all they have set their mind to.

- It is in this symbolic place we honor the heroes who on 6 April 1941 rose to the task and defended their families, Army, Air Force, and the Serbian people, in a manner expected of an officer. Continuing the tradition of sixth fighters squadron, members of the 204th aviation brigade at this place, and still proudly pay tribute to their predecessors, today's your chance to start your career here, as general Bandic said pointing tasks and accomplishments the brigade has achieved so far as evidence of synergy of all arms and services of the Army Serbia.

President of the Association of retired military pilots and paratroopers Zlatomir Grujic wished young fellow officers a long and successful flying experience and to continue to nurture the sacred tradition of aviation. On that occasion, he was presented with a diploma "Mihajlo Petrovic," in memory of the first educated Serbian pilot.

Six new lieutenants will plant today, in front of the Museum of Military Force, six trees as a symbol of the spot where they will welcome the next generation of young Serbian Army officers.

PILOTS PRACTICE AT PASULJANSKE LIVADE

Members of the 714th antitank helicopter squadron, based at the airport "Ladjevci" in Kraljevo, at the mixed training ground "Pasuljanske livade" performed regular activities as part of training in planned rocket attack on ground targets, which represents the final level of combat training of antitank helicopter pilots. Exercise was led by the commander of the 714th antitank helicopter squadron Colonel Predrag Nikolic.

According to Lt. Col. Nikolic, at "Pasuljanske livade" mostly younger pilots who have not operated including experienced pilots, were trained to fire at targets in this training ground. Apart from them, the colleagues from 119th mixed helicopter squadron also underwent the training in attacking ground targets.

The effect on ground targets is performed in the formation of a "a pair of antitank helicopters," where the leaders of pairs are experienced pilots, colleagues from Nis, and the pilots of the 714th Squadron act as chaperons. Pilots then target with missiles immobile targets at a distance of 2,000 meters. In addition to regular flight training, included in the annual plan, we have the elements of combat training, which represent the culmination of actions in terms of living and a prerequisite for continued training at dusk or at dawn, the effect on the earth, especially armored targets, said Nikolic.

 Anti tank helicopter squadron" Senke" carried out its tasks regularly following the program of combat training on an annual basis, and practice at the Pasuljanske livade is the culmination of training in living conditions, and a prerequisite for further training in night conditions .

PROMOTION OF FILM “A CENTURY OF THE DARING ONES”

In the House of Guards in Topcider tonight, a projection of the documentary film “A century of the daring ones”, dedicated to the centenary of the Serbian military aviation, was organised.

The television audience will have the opportunity to watch this film on 24 December on Channel 1 of the programme of the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation within the formal ceremony to mark the Day of Air Force and Air Defence, and there is also a and DVD in the Serbian and English language prepared.

The projection was attended by Defence Minister Aleksandar Vucic, Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Ljubisa Dikovic with members of the senior staff, the people who were involved in creating the film, members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces and representatives of public life.

On that occasion, Minister Vucic have delivered aircraft models as a token of gratitude to the members of the team who took part in creating the film.

As AF&AD Commander Major General Ranko Živak, said, welcoming the audience, "The Century of the daring ones" is a chronological review of the development of the Serbian military aviation from its inception to the present days, with all the ups and downs. The film testifies, he added, the different social, historical, economic and military factors that in some periods influenced the development of military aviation in the region.

The author of the film is Sladjana Zaric, director Filip Colovic, journalist Vesna Ilic, director of photography Peter Vujanic, editors Ivan Vasic and Marija Bogicevic, composer Vladimir Tosic, sound designer Bojan Mangovic, graphic designer Borko Ciric, a 3D animation was done in Feniks creative studio.

The project has been realised in co-production with Military Film Centre “Zastava” and the Serbian Broadcasting Corporation under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence.

A PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE OCCASION OF PROMOTION OF THE FILM “THE CENTURY OF THE DARING ONES”

A press conference on the occasion of promotion of the film “The century of the daring ones”, dedicated to the centenary of the Serbian military aviation, has been held today at the Central Military Club.

The speakers at the conference were AF&AD Commander Major General Ranko Zivak, author of the film Sladjana Zaric, director Filip Colovic and director of the Military Film Centre “Zastava film” Lieutenant Colonel Mate Vujnovic.

General Zivak recalled of the jubilee marking the Serbian air force, a century of existence, and expressed his gratitude to the authors of the film because it is difficult to put 100 years in less than 100 minutes.

- It is a professional challenge from which the film was created in an interesting way, technically polished, showing the history and development of the Serbian military aviation, which is not a flat upward line but a wavy one, with ups and downs. This is a movie of harmonious composition of words, pictures, documents and testimonies. So, a mosaic image was made that should be presented to a broader public, said the AD&AD Commander, adding that, for these reasons, film as media is the best form for bringing the contents closer to a wider audience.

According to General Zivak, the film is dedicated to the generations of airmen, who throughout history and development of the Serbian military aviation were up to the task, then to those who wish to learn something, because this is a documentary film, chronological and educational, and to the general public.

Lieutenant Colonel Vujnovic said that the Ministry of Defence has recognized the importance of this project, and the contribution to the film was in terms of assisting with logistics, in a professional sense. He added that in order to turn the author’s idea into practice, it was important to collect important archival material from various houses.

- Since the very emergence of "Zastava film", after the Second World War, the archive has been filled with a variety of materials that testify about all the important events in the Air Force and Air Defence. "Zastava film" is a chronicler of the defence system, and in particular Air Force, about which 78 educational films were recorded, said Lieutenant Colonel Vujnovi?.

The author of the film has confirmed that the project was a great professional challenge for her.

- I had a dilemma how to make a film about a hundred years of aviation to be very popular and yet understandable to everyone. And it was one of the challenges that motivated me to go into the whole story, to make a film about the history of aviation that will not be acceptable and understandable only to aviation enthusiasts but also to "ordinary viewers," said the author of the film, adding that she was additionally motivated by information of the number of jubilees of the Serbian military aviation.

Filip Colovi? introduced the film "A century of the daring ones" from the perspective of the director and said that he divided it into three parts.

- The first and the hardest part was the initial one where we had the most interventions, the second is the post-war one in which we have the existing material, and the third, as the most challenging, the present, because we had to represent the aviation and flights today, the Director said.

The film was made in co-production with Military Film Centre “Zastava film” and Serbian Broadcasting Agency, under the auspices of the Ministry of Defence.
